A step by step guide to computer booting in our modern African technology

Hello readers, I am still your favorite educator on Computer operations in our modern African time. My name still remains Kizzionline.

Today, I would be taking through all you need to know about computer booting and its operations in our modern African time.

Recall in my last topic, I was able to introduce you on to a solid guide to computer operation in our modern Africa time. In case you missed it, you can check it out here.

Now, lets get straight to the topic of today. How do we start? first of all I will take you through to knowing what is booting and how it operates in why using the computer system.

What Is Booting?

When we start our Computer then there is an operation which is performed automatically by the Computer which is also called as Booting. In the Booting, System will check all the hardware’s and Software’s those are installed or Attached with the System and this will also load all the Files those are needed for running a system.

Booting is the process of powering on a computer and getting into the operating system.

Types Of Computer Booting

1) Warm Booting: when the System Starts from the Starting or from initial State Means when we Starts our System this is called as warm Booting. In the Warm Booting the System will be Started from its beginning State means first of all, the user will press the Power Button , then this will read all the instructions from the ROM and the Operating System will b Automatically gets loaded into the System.

2) Cold Booting: The Cold Booting is that in which System Automatically Starts when we are Running the System, For Example due to Light Fluctuation the system will Automatically Restarts So that in this Chances Damaging of system are More. and the System will no be start from its initial State So May Some Files will b Damaged because they are not Properly Stored into the System.

What happens when a computer is booting?

During the boot process, the computer goes through multiple steps to ensure the computer hardware works correctly and the necessary software can be loaded. When booting, the computer performs the following tasks.

  • Pressing the power button on the computer starts up the power supply, which subsequently provides power to the other hardware components inside the computer case.
  • A self diagnostic is performed, also known as a POST, to check if all hardware in the computer is working properly.
The BIOS checks the hard drive for the boot loader, located in the first sector of the hard drive.
  • The boot loader looks for the operating system on the hard drive and begins loading the found operating system (e.g., Linux, macOS, or Windows)
  • Hardware drivers are loaded, allowing the operating system to interact and utilize the hardware components inside the computer case.
  • If configured in the operating system, a login screen is displayed, allowing the user to enter a username and password to log in.
  • Any additional software programs configured to start with the operating system, known as startup programs, are loaded. Common startup programs include antivirus software or printer management software.

Failure during boot

If the computer cannot boot, you may receive a boot failure error. This error indicates the computer is not passing POST or a device in the computer, such as the hard drive or memory, has failed. You may also hear a beep code to help you identify which hardware is failing during the POST.

If operating system files cannot be loaded because it’s not found or files are corrupt, an error message is shown. The error message or blue screen helps identify why the operating system cannot be loaded.

You may also see errors if a hardware driver is corrupted or cannot be loaded for another reason. Sometimes the operating system can continue loading even if a hardware driver cannot be loaded. However, it would encounter problems with that hardware.

The image graphics below will take you through graphically in understanding how the computer booting process work and the various steps and stages you would go through in other to successfully boot your computer.
