Luis Rubiales Banned By FIFA For 3 Years For Forced Kiss On Spain Player
Fifa said on Monday that they banned Luis Rubiales, a former Spanish football leader, for three years. This happened because he kissed World Cup winner Jenni Hermoso against her will.
In a statement made by the governing body of world’s football it said, ““The FIFA disciplinary committee has banned Luis Rubiales, the former president of the Spanish Football Association (RFEF), from all football-related activities at national and international levels for three years”.
“This case relates to the events that occurred during the final of the FIFA Women’s World Cup on 20 August 2023, for which Mr Rubiales had been provisionally suspended for an initial period of 90 days,” FIFA added.
Rubiales quit his job as RFEF president in September because he felt he couldn’t continue. He said the situation was too difficult.
Before that, Jenni Hermoso, the player in the situation, had made a formal complaint about an unwanted kiss attempted by Luis Rubiales during the medal ceremony after Spain won the Women’s World Cup in Sydney in August.
Hermoso said she was disrespected and the incident left her vulnerable and like the victim of an assault but in Luis defense he said the kiss was agreed upon.
