Newcastle’s Player Tonali Banned For 10 months.

Newcastle Midfielder Sandro Tonali has been banned for 10 months for betting, the Italian football federation said on Thursday.

Sandro who joined Newcastle from AC Milan on a Five year contract for the sum of 56-million-pound (64-million-euro) . This made him the most expensive Italian player in history.

The Newcastle player has been banned from football for 10 months after investigation took place during the recent international break which left him out of the ITALY National Team Squad. This will make him the second italian footballer to banned from football in a betting scandal.

In a statement made by the President of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC), Gabriele Gravina in an interview with sky sport italia on Thursday confirming this update. He said “The FIGC Prosecutor and Tonali have reached an agreement which I have already approved,” Gravina said. “The agreement consists of a 10-month ban plus eight months of rehab activities and at least 16 public appearances.”

Juventus’ Nicolo Fagioli was also suspended for seven months by the FIGC’s disciplinary tribunal earlier this month.

This ban will mean that Tonali season is over in Newcastle and also making no Euro 2024 for him. He will be back in August 2024.
