Nigerians react to pictures of St. Lukes Catholic Church in Abuja celebrating mass using African cultural items
Nigerians react to pictures of St. Lukes Catholic church in Kubwa, Abuja celebrating mass using African cultural items.
In the post, young men are seen dressed in white singlets with a wrapper tied around their waists and native makeup on their faces, following the priests to the altar.
Some ladies who tied wrappers around their waists and chests and had some beads on their hands, legs, and neck also participated in the mass.
Reacting to this, many Nigerians poured their views on the practice. Some people were happy with this act of celebrating African culture even in the Christian faith, While others saw it as an unacceptable act.
”Culture is different from practicing witchcraft, you cannot carry the display of a native doctor to the Church and call it cultural day”.
